Edward M. Tavel
Medical Director & Principal Investigator
About
Dr. Edward Tavel is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist who has served as a Principal Investigator in clinical research since 2007. He is the Medical Director of Pain Specialists of Charleston and is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to every participant.
A graduate of Davidson College and the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Tavel completed advanced training in anesthesia and pain medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was chief resident. He is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Pain Medicine and remains an active member of the Interventional Spinal Intervention Society and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

With a talent for organization and a passion for clinical research, South Carolina native Nathelia keeps our studies on track from start to finish. She oversees contracts and budgets across all sites, ensuring every detail is handled with care. Nathelia earned her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a minor in Business Administration from Winthrop University and completed her Master’s in Healthcare Administration at MUSC in 2013. Her dedication helps create a seamless experience for both participants and staff.
